Isn't it just amazing how many blessings we take for granted, until we no longer have them? Health, for example. After suffering through illness the past two weeks--flu and then a sinus infection--I have found a new respect for the wonderful blessing of good health. I have not been able to breathe, or smell, or concentrate on almost any task for the past while because of the pain I was in. Now, today, I am finally starting to feel better. Not exactly well, but much better. And it feels so good! My energy is back and I have so many plans. I feel so blessed to be feeling better. Truly, good health is something that if we have, we should be thankful for. It is absolutely foundational to general quality of life! I should have been more thankful for my good health in the past.
With that thought in mind, I would like to remind myself of all the things I am thankful for. There are so many blessings in my life that I don't want to take for granted. For example:
- My recovery from illness right now feels like a dream come true.
- I am so very thankful for my three amazing children, who are all healthy themselves.
- I'm grateful for the new baby who will be joining us before too long, and for a pregnancy that has been easy and uneventful.
- The roof over our heads is more of a blessing than ever when the cold winds of January are whipping around outside.
- We always have enough to eat, which is something millions of people in our world can not say.
- I have a hardworking, loving, faithful husband, and I don't take that for granted!
- I am happy that Chris and I have goals and dreams for the future to give purpose to our lives.
- I'm so glad that not only do we homeschool, but we have a home business, so that we get to spend almost all of our time together as a family. This is unusual today, I realize.
- When I was enjoying a nice hot, relaxing shower earlier today, I was thinking how amazing it is that we have hot running water. What a luxury this is compared to what people had to do to keep themselves clean throughout all of human history!
- I am thankful for the community of like-minded people I have found on the Internet, for the online friends I have made, and for the lovely people who read my blog. :)
Well, that's about all I wanted to say today. No pictures for this post. I just wanted to share my happy thoughts. I feel like I am so blessed. I'll be back starting tomorrow with some "real" posts, I promise! And the first one will be a tasty recipe...
What a thoughtful list. Glad you are feeling better.
