Yesterday Kira, Owen and I went with my aunt to visit a horse farm. My aunt's good friend boards her horse there, and she was kind enough to show us around.
We enjoyed seeing all the beautiful horses, including a Clydsdale mare which was huge! On the other end of the scale, in one of the fields there was a group of mixed breed ponies, including a foal. I have never seen a pony foal before...oh my, what a little sweetheart!
I included the second picture with Owen so you could see how tiny that pony was. (Owen is holding one of the mints which my aunt's friend gave us to feed the ponies as a treat).
It was very hot yesterday, too hot for the children to be able to ride...but we were promised that in the fall they could come back again and have a chance to ride. We look forward to that!
oh, my goodness!
so incredibly sweet!

OMGosh! Laura - what a treat for you and the kidlets. It'd be interesting to see the small foal standing next to the Clydesdale mare, huh? Love Owen's hat! Glad to hear you had a good time. Take care, from KY.

Thanks for visiting over at my place, Laura. I posted comments to your comments if you want to take a look. Joel Salatin is quite the motivational speaker/writer, and has some great ideas of making it in farming without the Gov't subsidies, etc. And most of his ideas and ways of doing things can be scaled down to fit any amount of acreage, I think. Thanks again for the comments. Have a great Wednesday. Take care, from KY.

Hi Laura - I found a quote on Maple Valley Farm blog that I thought you would like:
"Do not part with your dreams or aspirations for when they are gone you will exist, but you have ceased to live." - Henry David Thoreau
This is something we can both take to heart, and live by, wouldn't you say? Have a great Thursday, take care, from KY.
