Welcome to my blog, dear readers!
I've called it Getting There because here I will be sharing my family's journey to where we are going--wherever that shall be.
Our journey will follow two paths: One path of our journey will be our seeking to learn new skills, to become more self-sufficient, to live more deliberately and simply. Another path will be our efforts to pay off our debts, and save enough to be able to purchase a beautiful piece of land in the country, where we can live out our dreams of owning a homestead. We know all this will be a great challenge, but we are excited to be starting out on this journey together, and to be taking our life in a new direction.
I would like Mondays to be a day for me to share something inspirational--a poem, a quote, a link, a photo, whatever. So today, for my first post, I am going to share a poem that just about everyone knows. But the words are so lovely, let's read them over one more time.
by Robert Frost
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Here's to taking the road less traveled! More posts coming soon...
I look forward to following you on your journey. Your journey is similar to our own.

Ok, now the tears are really coming : )
Robert Frost was my grandfathers favorite, he used to sit with us and read his poetry to us as little children. This reminds me of him as he had it printed out and hung it on his wall...

Your grandfather sounds like a very special man! :)

This is probably my most favourite poem. Thank you for including it here.
I agree with Frost that decisions we make should always be made thoughtfully, and without regard for the popular choice.
I really like your writing style, and I look forward to reading more posts.

Thank you for your kind words, Missus! It's probably my favourite poem too. I know it's so popular it's become clichéd, but it is so popular for good reason--it's both beautiful and wise.

I've never read anyone's blog before, but I saw your post on the SHE Team site and looked it up! Our family has been making deliberate decisions over the last several years in the same direction that your family is going - I wish you the very best!! It's challenging and rewarding, and not understood by most people! I'm looking forward to following you journey. Thank you for renewing the desire in my heart to pursue this life!
